''With the aim of eliminating the use of plastics in the payments ecosystem, the financial services platform InfinitePay, which began its operation in 2018 with a "little machine", is now campaigning for the end of these card data processing terminals. Called "The End of Plastic in Payments: an invitation to rethink the use of plastic and start building this sustainable future now", the advertising effort is based on the report "Money Without Plastic", produced by the agency O Mundo Que Quero in partnership with to InfinitePay. The survey gathers data on waste production within the payments market.
According to the study, in the last decade around 450 million credit and debit cards were issued and 95 million machines were produced in Brazil (estimate based on data from the Central Bank), representing a volume of plastic of more than 15 thousand tons. In 2022 alone, more than 20 million machines were produced in the country, an increase of 494% compared to the total in 2012.The effort consists of a film (watch below), inspired by the work of Hilma Klint, a pioneer of abstractionism, and was created using artificial intelligence tools.
"The campaign is a rite of passage for InfinitePay to enter a more sustainable future. It opens the door to a more offensive narrative in which we move towards a communication that declares the end of machines and the beginning of our total digitalization process", he notes Paulo Perez, chief design officer at CloudWalk, a Brazilian fintech that owns the InfinitePay platform. In response to the proposal to put an end to the use of plastic, the company presents the InfiniteTap, which "turns smartphones into little machines". Through the InfinitePay app, it is possible to receive contactless payments. ''
